I hate water. Really, I do. I even keep my face out of the water in the shower as much as possible. Water in my face and water in my ears. Ugh. Not a fan of water.
I took swim lessons as a kid, but I think it was too late. I remember Uncle Mike driving my brother and I along with two of the cousins to swim class. I also clearly remember being left behind a level as everyone else actually learned to swim. The only thing I could do really well was the back float. But only if I knew I could touch the ground at any time.
I've been on a water ride now and again. I like boating. When I was young (and stupid) and trying to impress the now in-laws I even went tubing. In retrospect, agreeing to be pulled behind a boat by my father-in-law was just plain dumb. I now know how his mind works and the stunts he likes to pull.
We don't get much time to boat, or swim, or take a vacation to a water park when we are devoting so much time to farming. It has been several years since the family took off a couple of days to go to the lake, but hopefully that will change as all the cousins get older.
I have a fear of water, therefore, I will not allow my children in it without having swim lessons. My fear does not need to be passed on especially since their daddy is a fish. So, this morning I signed up the twins for their first swim lessons, Parent and Me lessons. Maybe, while they learn I will too!

Swim lessons are on my "to-do" list when September 12, 2011 gets here.

How do "parent and me" classes work with twins?
