Have you noticed the orange noses that the girls have? It has been driving me nuts. Every picture I take the first thing I notice is their noses. In person their noses are orange, but not as bright as the pictures make them out to be.
So, I did some reading. Apparently, it is fairly common. It is a condition known as carotenemia. That means they have high levels of carotene in their systems. For those familiar with the vitamin cycles in the body (poor Wes had to suffer through Vitamins and Minerals Class in grad school, I got out of it) you know that there are high levels of carotene in orange veggies. Beta carotene is vitamin A. There is no risk associated with high levels of vitamin A when it comes from natural sources.
The girls love sweet potatoes, squash and carrots. That means they eat orange veggies every day. Either I need to back off on the orange veggies or live with orange nosed babies!
Enjoy the pictures of my orange nosed babies!
