It's a BIRTHDAY!!!!

Yesterday, Wes turned 30 and the girls got him a cookie cake. I know, that seems like a sin when you know that I can make and decorate a yummy cake myself. I had a cake and small little gathering planned, but the girls decided to make Wes a daddy while he was still 29. He has rubbed that little tidbit of information in my face more than once since last week.

The birthday boy!

The girls continue to up their feeding amounts and have started nursing. While in grad school, one of my projects included a "weigh, suckle, weigh" (WSW) procedure. The calves were held off the cows for 6 hours, weighed, allowed to nurse, and then reweighed. This method told us how much milk the cows were producing. I am now performing WSW procedures with the girls. They are weighed before and after nursing to determine how much milk they are actually consuming.

They have a long way to go, but the nurses are tickled pink with how well they are nursing for their age.

The birthday boy & Tessa (the sarcasm shirt sure got a lot of comments around the NICU

Aunt Kylee came to visit from Denver

Each day is a joy to watch the progress they make and I am thrilled to be able to share it with all of you. Thanks for all of the comments. If you prefer you can also email me at hillsvalleyranch@gmail.com
