Hay Season

Hay season has begun! Hay starting coming down about two weeks ago. After a scary start to the spring with no significant precipitation since last July we caught over 5 inches of rain in May and June. The crops really turned around. The alfalfa came down first and then these beauties.

Peas!
This is a view that makes Wes happy! Ok, actually, he is happiest inside the tractor.
Can you see his smiling face in there?

I can't tell you how many tons per acre we ended up with, but the peas sure did look great going down.

After the peas they started working on the barley. I can't tell you how hard it is to watch them hay while I am stuck in the house. I stopped out at the field after work today to drop a snack off for Wes. The itch to get into the tractor to make a hay bale or two was tough to resist, but I didn't think driving 8 mph over a rough field would be a good idea. Do you think that would shake these girls loose????
