Horsey time...

Our new additions are settling in to their new home.  The girls still want to go see them several times a day and love giving them a treat.

Showdown

3 little girls checking out the pony

Apple Jack - He finally has a name!

Look how fast AppleJack can run!
(Big man on a little horse)
And the girls all got their first ride around the yard on their pony.  TJ did NOT want to get off.

Don't let Lil's expression in this photo fool you.  She loved riding AppleJack.

AppleJack didn't really want Wes to catch him, but he stood perfectly still while Wes saddled him and was so gentle walking the girls.

Showdown kept getting in Wes's way because he wanted to be caught and saddled up.  He is really ready to go.  We are going to have to make sure he gets enough ride time.

This morning on the way out the door to work I saw a calf standing halfway up the hill on the road.  BAD NEWS!  Yesterday, we received a new pen of bawling calves and apparently some had escaped.  Wes came flying out the door with the words, "I don't have a 4-wheeler here."

So, we proceeded to give chase with pickups and on foot.  While I was swinging gates in the feedlot and Wes was running to head off 2 calves I looked over to see Showdown and AppleJack peeking over the hill at us.  I think they wanted to be part of the action.

I told Wes we could have saddled up the horses instead of running around on foot.  His response, "yeah, right."

It might take awhile to convince him to start using horses again with the cattle.

If Wes takes his feet out of the stir-ups you would have a 6 legged horse!
