I would like to ask for a few prayers to be sent up for Grandpa Stanley.
He has been in the hospital since late last week and although he is feeling better today there are still some unanswered questions about what caused the issues last week.
He is 91 (19 as he always says) and will be 92 in November. We all realize that his life is coming to an end and he will soon be with his beloved wife, Emma, but that doesn't make this any easier.
His eyes light up when the girls come to visit him and I know how much that means to Wes. Wes has made many comments about whether the girls are old enough to remember Grandpa. I know the twins are even if it is just one or two great memories. I was fairly young when my great-grandpa Bickle passed away. I remember just 2 instances with him, but I cherish those times. I know it will be the same for the twins.
Twice a week when I take the girls to daycare we drive past the nursing home. The twins both yell, "that's grandpa Stanley's house." This morning TJ yelled that only to have AA say, "Grandpa Stanley isn't there. He's at the hospital."
Wes and his folks had a conversation while at the hospital about walking that fine line between being selfish in wanting to keep him here with us and letting him go. Those are tough decisions to make when you start talking about what life saving procedures the doctors should or should not perform if something should happend.
His heart rate soared several times already and the doctors were able to bring it back down with meds in the last couple days. They probably would have been full-blown heart attacks if he hadn't been hooked up to the monitors.
We have him in our lives for a little while yet. And we will keep making precious memories for the girls every chance we get until he is called home.
