Normally, the title of this post, "1st cutting", would refer to the 1st cutting of hay which out here is usually the only cutting of hay we get.
But today, I don't refer to hay.
I refer to grass. Glorious green grass.
While all 3 munchkins were sleeping yesterday I snuck outside to mow the lawn. My first time running the new riding lawnmower I bought last year. I still have trimming to do, but everything was cut.
Wes was in complete shock when he found out I was planning to mow the lawn. Cutting the grass on May 4th was just too soon for him. He doesn't have a seed in the ground yet and is dealing with that reality a little hard.
So, what prompted this cutting of grass. A few things, but it started with Wes's text to me that morning, "found a tick crawling on my leg, be careful with the girls I must have picked it up in the short grass around here."
I will not have a tick haven around the house. And with these 3 girls running around like they do I am determined to keep the lawn around the house in good condition this year. I was able to clean up so much outside yesterday with the girls playing. Things I've wanted to get to the last couple of summers and just couldn't find the time to get out there to do it. I'm so happy with the ages the girls are right now.
They are excited to tackle mommy's garden next if the weather allows us!
