The tale of a white tail and a muley...

Deer season opened on Friday, October 6th at 11 am. Wes, BIL Martin and I headed out to the badlands pasture for a little hunting. My goal was to have the shortest season possible and to walk the shortest distance possible. I was determined to shoot the first deer I saw. It was in the seventies and an absolutely beautiful day for hunting.
We walked in somewhere between 1/2 to 3/4 miles and this is the view I had from my spot. It was slow going, but the guys were fine with walking at my speed.
After about an hour of sitting I decided to see if I got internet service on my cell. I then proceeded to check Facebook and post about what a dedicated hunter I was! In the next 1/2 hour I was able to post "Buck down."
And there is the proof of the buck down. He was just about ready to jump the fence into the neighboring pasture in which I could see a hunter waiting for me to miss. I hit him three times before he would actually go down. (I will also admit I shot 5 times. I was a little nervous knowing that the other hunter could see me.)

My friend, Jen, insisted I post a picture on Facebook of the pregnant lady with her deer. I had to oblige. I waited until Wes walked over from his spot to walk down and see the deer.

And then the fun began. Being pregnant I didn't even have to pretend to help gut the deer. I just stood there and took pictures!
Good job, Wes. I think you are doing it right.

Pretty boy! He was a 4x3 muley.

Give me a KISS!

Yep, Wes, that is the heart. Looks good. I hit him in the lungs (twice I think).

Nice gut pile.

On Sunday, Wes went out early in the morning and shot this nice 4x4 white tail.
Tessa was a little leary at first, but then she thought it was neat to grab the horns.

Nice job guys. I'm not sure what image I like better. You pregnant with your deer or you hunting in white boots and fuzzy earmuffs!
