We've been having some trouble with the fitting of Audrey's helmet lately. It was adjusted last Thursday in Bismarck on our way to WI. She was having some issues with heat rash so I put her on a modified wearing schedule.
Yesterday, when I picked her up from daycare she had crusties at the bottom of the helmet at the base of her skull. I assumed it was food. When we got home and Wes saw it he correctly identified it as "dried ooze." Her skin had broken open and was oozing in a couple of spots. She must have gotten very hot and sweaty at daycare. I soaked her head with warm washclothes until the itching went away. Today she is helmet free and we are going in to Bismarck tomorrow.
Depending on her measurements, I might just make the decision to stop wearing the helmet. Her head is far from "perfect", but it is so much better than when we started. If it is causing her pain then it isn't worth it anymore. We will see what tomorrow's appointment brings us.
