Wes has been telling me stories about growing up with Grandma ever since she passed away. One of his favorites has always been how he would hide from her in the closet and then fall asleep. Last night we found a picture of him curled up on the closet floor along with a box of crackers for a snack! When the kids would get home from school Grandma would often be at the farm and have chocolate doughnuts waiting for them.
I'm reposting some pictures we took when Grandma first got to meet the girls. The expression of Wes's face in these pictures say a lot about their relationship.
I know that the girls will cherish these pictures forever and so will we.
Grandma was in the alzheimer unit at the nursing home for about 4 years. It has been difficult to watch her as she has progressed through this terrible disease. She was 91 years old. I was blessed to know her before this disease really took a grasp on her mind.
Our hearts are comforted to know she has been welcomed into the Lord's arms.
