Saturday, March 9th was the kickoff for the 2013 calving season!
#113-07 graced us with our first bull calf of the season.
The little guy was hiding in the grass staying warm out of the wind.
And off they go to find shelter away from 3 little girls squealing in delight and arguing over what to name the calf.
Turns out the calf was named "Mr. Green." Mr. Green is going to be our mascot this season.
You can look forward to hearing all about his journey from birth to the sale barn!
This calf was born almost 2 weeks early, but there are a lot of other cows that look like they will be getting close to calving as well. The cows were all moved into the calving pasture 2 days ago. This pasture is close and has adequate shelter for the cows and calves. The calves get special calf shelters that don't allow the cows access. More on this subject in a future post.
