Western ND is in the midst of an oil boom. Companies are drilling for the Bakken formation. A company is currently drilling a well on what we call our "Badlands pasture." The family does not own the mineral rights under this land so don't go thinking we are rolling in the dough!
It has been an awesome experience getting to learn about the drilling technology though. This past weekend while we had family visiting from WI we took a tour of the location and got to see the platform where the men work.
